As a sister company to Starfish Medical, a firm that designs and develops medical devices, ViVitro Labs offers its clients access to a team of more than 30 engineers who specialize in the design and development of medical devices, giving ViVitro clients a significant advantage over the competition.

Scott Phillips, CEO (President at StarFish Medical)

Founder and President (CEO) of Starfish Medical and ViVitro Labs, Scott Phillips holds an educational background in Engineering Physics. Having worked in a diverse array of specialties prior to founding Starfish Medical, Scott’s breadth and depth of experience inform each project, ensuring a successful outcome. Well known for his strong knowledge of the biotechnology industry, expertise in regulatory compliance issues and his proven track record for bringing medical devices successfully to market, Scott understands the intricacies of research, design, production, and commercialization of products in the medical device arena and is a valuable resource for clients of both ViVitro Labs and Starfish Medical.

David Mester, General Manager

An active member of AAMI and regular participant of ISO working groups with several decades of interaction with the regulatory bodies, David Mester’s career history and professional affiliations make him eminently qualified to work under the guidelines of stringent regulatory requirements. In addition to fulfilling Research and Development and Quality Assurance roles at some of the world’s leading facilities, David spent 20 years in the employment of a major heart valve manufacturing company, focused on hydrodynamic and materials testing for product development and regulatory submissions. A graduate of St. Edwards University, David possesses a knowledge and experience base that spans the history of heart valves from the mechanical prosthetic heart valve to the latest in minimally invasive products. David’s expertise in the cardiovascular device sphere, particularly in heart valve testing, valve durability testing, valve hydrodynamic testing, and transcather heart valve testing is a powerful aid to each ViVitro Labs client in achieving product success.

Satya Karri, Ph.D, Director of Laboratory Services

As a recognized authority who is well published in advanced fluid mechanics and finite element analysis of medical devices, Satya Karri possesses expertise that is rarely found outside of the institutes of academia. Joining ViVitro Labs with a wealth of experience in cardiovascular research, Satya spent five years as a graduate research assistant at AEThER – Advanced Experimental Thermofluid Engineering Research Lab- in Blacksburg, Virginia and successfully developed a state-of-the-art flow diagnostics laboratory at James Madison University as a Post Doctoral Research Associate. Satya’s involvement in each project at ViVitro Labs provides unsurpassed expertise and a significant benefit and competitive advantage to our clients.
