Celebrating 45 Years of Cardiovascular Pioneers

May 29th, 2019

This week’s news of surgeons in Italy discovering an artificial mitral valve that is almost 50 years old and still working illustrates the impact and connection today’s pioneers share with their predecessors. I can only imagine how they felt while performing heart surgery on the 60-year-old woman.

The hospital said “A very important piece of the history of world medicine has passed through the hands of heart surgeons of the AOU San Giovanni di Dio and Ruggi d’Aragona of Salerno: a cardiac prosthesis implanted by Christiaan Barnard,”

At ViVitro we salute our pioneering founders and their products as we continue to build upon their legacy serving today’s new cardiovascular products, procedures, and technologies.
